Wer sich das erste Mal auf den langen Weg nach Rumaenien begibt erntet in seinem Umfeld oft Unverstaendnis und fragende Blicke… Rumaenien, das ist doch bestimmt total unterentwickelt, da soll es Vampire und lauter wilde Tiere geben…
Ja, das Strassennetz ist wirklich nicht so toll…genau das Richtige für Offroadfans jeglicher Couleur.
Und ja, wilde Tiere gibt es wirklich. Erst kuerzlich hat ein Schaefer eine neue Vogelart entdeckt.
Gestellt von Hütehunden sass der Cross-Papagei qualmend auf einer Astgabel, auf die er sich auf der Flucht vor den vermeintlichen Woelfen geflüchtet hatte.

Wie es zu dieser Verwechslung kommen konnte??? Wilde Geruechte ueber die unbekannte Wildnis Rumaeniens…Kameraden, die nicht auf ihren Hintermann acht geben…grosse Motorraeder und natuerlich die Suche nach Hoeherem
Vertraulichen Meldungen zufolge soll der Cross-Papagei am Abend nach der erfolgreichen Rettung als Schnapsdrossel gesehen worden sein.
Der Schaefer bedauert noch Heute, keine Camera griffbereit gehabt zu haben. 

Wieder einmal war es eine super Woche in den rumaenischen Bergen, die viel zu schnell verging.
Mit Dougie und Steven – natuerlich abwechselnd – auf Entdeckungstour unterwegs ueber Stock und Stein. Fuer meine Fahrspass hatte ich eine neue 250er EXC F dabei, die Hopser mir zur Verfuegung stellte. Ein echtes Maedchenbike, sie passte mir auf Anhieb. Es ging sogar soweit, das Steffen auf Nikotinpflaster umstellen will, wenn wir unterwegs sind, da der PCH kaum noch dazu kommt die obligatorischen Pausen zu machen. Die es immer dann gab, wenn irgendwer (unter anderem ich) irgendwo nicht rauf oder runter kam…

Danke fuer eure Geduld in den letzten Jahren und die immer wiederkehrenden Mantren…es ist doch ganz einfach (ha ha) …gib doch endlich mal Gas…go go go

Nach einer Woche Sonnenschein fuhren wir dann noch zum Romaniacs Training nach Sibiu. Dort war es unglaublich kalt, oben in den Bergen schneite es sogar. Das veranlasste unseren wackeren Schotten zur Umkehr, vermutlich hatte er extrem kalte Fuesse…er spart immer an den Socken

 Revving  up !  for the Red Bull Romaniacs Rallye Inscription 2009

    The race for the all important low start numbers for the world’s toughest Hardest Enduro Rallye, the Red Bull Romaniacs begins on December 6th, 2009.

The 2009 edition is scheduled from Saturday August 15th to Wednesday August 19th.

Founder and mastermind of Red Bull Romaniacs, Martin Freinademetz from organising agency www.xventure.net offroad tours explains:- “We’ll be able to host and cater for up to 250 riders for 2009, more is not possible due to track conditions and safety aspects for the riders”.

“From last year’s feedback from the pan european markets we know that the demand for our starting slots remain high, in 2008 the 230 slots were sold out by March for an event in September”.

 The event’s center and main bivouac will again be the town of Sibiu, but for one night, an external overnight bivouac will be set up in the city of Petrosani, in order to ramp up the Rallye character and to add superb over the mountains stages.

 Again, new routes have been created, Martin Frienademetz xventure track scouts have been out since the end of the 2008 Enduro Rallye, searching, finding and developing new adventurous tracks, and for the Pros some torturous routes which to fully test their talents.

 Prominent names in both – title holders and challengers – have already announced their participation for 2009: Be it 2008 surprise first time entered winner and title defender Graham Jarvis (UK, Sherco)

 BMW ‘s decision on whom to send for this eXtreme challenge in 2009 is still pending, will they probably even send their new signing David Knight, who has won pretty much everything globally EXCEPT this event, and so get BMW up from second on the podium in 2008 to first time BMW winner in 2009? Only time will tell … and Berti Hauser, BMW’s team-manager.

 KTM has already dropped the bomb, they will be sending two bigs guns with the Dakar winner and three times Red Bull Romaniacs champion Cyril Despres and Teddy Blazusiak, two times winner of Redbull Harescramble.

 After all, the lineup at the Red Bull Romaniacs Rallye in 2009 will better than ever before, and everyone will be able to watch the fight in ´real time´ on this website with our minitracker technology.

Payment of the entry money in full "finalises and confirms entry" and puts those riders who enter first into the starting list and onto a lower start number.

The Prolog – The extreme show of motorcycles within Sibiu’s Town Center

Saturday 15^th of August 2009 / Sibiu’s Town Center

The now legendary debut of the rally represents the prologue of the Red Bull Romaniacs, wherein competitors prove their endurance skills and experience in front of fans, television crews and journalists. The stars of this sport will stand out in this extreme race within Sibiu’s town center – where artificial obstacles will help create an amazing motorcycle show. The unpredictable as well as the contestants, who amaze with their abilities in extreme conditions, will keep the audience in a breathtaking trance throughout the entire race.

Andy Fazakas and MC Crazy Bike Sibiu, he pleasantly surprised us every year with spectacular obstacles, extreme elements, and the safety measures, as well.

In other words, the prologue of the Red Bull Romaniacs is the sum of all the ideas, experiences and the philosophies of this competition – a difficult contest, where only the best can win, but everyone has fun and competes in total safety. The offroad competition – the track for 2009

The four cross country stages take place 

16th August / Start & finish Sibiu

17th August / Start Sibiu - finish in Petrosani 

18th August / Start Petrosani - finish Sibiu 

19th August / Start & finish Sibiu       Prize giving and Party Party

 The length of the track varies for every class, meaning 100km or 200km per day.

The main challenges of the course are the technical parts, which lead through wood areas, where you may stumble upon rocks and rubble every now and then.

Pit stops are placed over distances of aproximately 70 km, where the contestants can refuel their motorcycles and have the oportunity to refresh themselves with Red Bull and water.

The track will be paved by stripes, signs and colored markings, but to guarantee the safety of the contestants, they will have the official track of the contest loaded onto GPS devices. The markings and GPS devices will ensure the navigation while competing, road books and other expensive technical equipment being unnecessary.  Every single Pro, expert single and team will have a mini tracker. The public can watch this live on our website. 

There will be specially designed places for fans to bare witness the struggle of the competitors in the toughest Hard Enduro Rally in the world. Information regarding the location of these points for the audience, as well as the hours between which the show is taking place will be published on the site and in the media in due time.
